Before Skullcandy, headphones were boring, monochromatic, music-shrinkers. In five years, Rick Alden and the Skullcandy team have yanked headphones from the Stone Age and built a lifestyle-brand for the here-and-now. Focused on action sports, Skullcandy gives athletes and spectators alike the soundtrack for an extreme life.
Your skull has a sweet tooth.
Skullcandy creates a variety of colorful, customizable, bass-pumping headphones and audio accessories. We also build music into helmets, goggles and hydration packs. Skullcandy remains dedicated to skate, surf, and snow action sports… and a few others that don’t start with the letter “S.”
Skullcandy History
Long before Skullcandy was born, founder Rick Alden was riding a chairlift when his cell phone rang. Frantically removing his gloves and headphones to answer the call, Rick had an idea: a headphone that could also connect to his cell phone.
Rick developed the first Skullcandy LINK system from the basement of his Park City, Utah home. As times and music players changed, Skullcandy expanded to develop a variety of lifestyle-branded headphones.
Skullcandy is now recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in America. Six years after that fateful day on the lift, Skullcandy has grown across the U.S. and into almost 60 countries. But, our heart is still in our action sports core: skate, snow and surf.
